In September 2021, Church Leaders issued a joint statement on Climate Change
For the first time, the leaders of the Roman Catholic Church, the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Anglican Communion jointly warned of the urgency of environmental sustainability, its impact on poverty, and the importance of global cooperation. Issued at the start of Season of Creation Time, the statement from Pope Francis, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and Archbishop Justic Welby call us to pray and act for the earth and God’s creation.
‘We call on everyone, whatever their belief or worldview, to endeavour to listen to the cry of the earth and of people who are poor, examining their behaviour and pledging meaningful sacrifices for the sake of the earth which God has given us’.

Season of Creation 2022
During the COVID-19 pandemic, many have become familiar with the concept of being muted in conversations. Many voices are muted in public discourse around climate change and the ethics of Earth-keeping.
These are voices of those who suffer the impacts of climate change. These are voices of people who hold generational wisdom about how to live gratefully within the limits of the land. These are voices of a diminishing diversity of more-than-human species.
It is the voice of the Earth.
