Spirit & Life

Connect with Wonder and Joy

Luke 1:39-45
Soon afterward Mary got ready and hurried off to a town in the hill country of Judea. She went into Zechariah’s house and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby moved within her. Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and said in a loud voice, “You are the most blessed of all women, and blessed is the child you will bear! Why should this great thing happen to me, that my Lord’s mother comes to visit me? For as soon as I heard your greeting, the baby within me jumped with gladness. How happy you are to believe that the Lord’s message to you will come true!”

Reflection

There is nothing like the baby within you jumping and moving with life. It is a gift and a wonder. From the beginning, you are aware of the other. Together, you both live with closeness and knowingness of each other. This significant story offers the very human face of Christmas, where deep love meets simple joy. Elizabeth & John, and Mary & Jesus, connect with wonder and joy.
Mary and Elizabeth remind us that sharing the Good news is such a significant part of our Christian life.
Let us not hold it inside. It is through togetherness, we know and understand more of God’s greatness.

Whom will you share with this Christmas?
How will you connect with the wonder of it all?
When will you jump with joy at the New Beginning that is gently offered?
Let all Creation and the whole people of God experience the wonder and joy.

Prayer – Wonder and Joy
Little One
You wiggle with life
and move the world.
You smile with your Mother
and we all feel the joy.
You reach out with love
and connect us all.
With joy, we share this love.
With wonder, we act through your love.
For you are a blessing that wiggles throughout the world.
